These beads look like slag glass to me, and I just love them.  I have persisted in carrying them for a decade or more because I personally like them, although they always sell slowly.

I have twice lowered my price for them, from $6.00 (which was way too high) to $4.80, and then to $4.50.  I keep fiddling with my markup formula, and sometimes that accrues to the benefit of my customers.  In December, 2013, when I restocked them again, I lowered the price to $4.00.  Fortunately, the supplier has not raised its price in the decade that I've been buying them.
