Beads per lot:

50

Cost per bead:

7 cents

Bead material:

Glass

Country of origin:

Czech Republic

Size/shape:

8mm (from hole to hole) x 9mm (wide) snail-shaped beads.

Colors/description:

Glass beads (probably white) with a lustrous dark-blue synthetic coating.

Hole size:

1mm (estimated).

Defects:

The coating on Czech pearls is fairly thin, and I don't know how durable it will be.  Also, inevitably a few pearls will be missing some coating around one of the holes (a common defect with Czech coated beads).  A few pearls may also have some anomalies in the coating, such as bumps, indentations or a bit of dirt.

How photographed:

At the window in natural daylight.

Comments:

I call these "navy blue", but they are a bit lighter than that.  Note:  In the ten years that these beads have been on the shelf, they may have grown slightly darker, but only slightly so.  In January, 2020 I carefully compared the picture to the actual beads.  This actually bodes well because it means that the beads are fading very, very slowly.  As I have stated elsewhere on this site, glass pearls (all of which have a synthetic coating) tend to fade over the years, especially if there is any blue in the coating.  If these beads have kept their color in ten years, they are likely to keep it for years longer.  (Yes, sometimes it takes years for a slow-selling bead to go out of stock.)
