These are gorgeous beads. First, I should say that they look like they may be ceramic instead of glass; but since I bought them from a supplier that doesn't sell ceramic beads, I have to assume they are glass. The turquoise color is very rich, and the picasso coating -- being blue-black as it is instead of brown -- is especially lovely. Also, I haven't found (so far) even a single bead with a defect. The supplier's picture actually showed something different: It showed a turquoise bead with bronze mottling on it. But this blue-black mottling is much lovelier, in my opinion. My camera made the beads look like a blue turquoise instead of a green turquoise, so I had to make adjustments in my photo-editing program. The adjustments to the color may not be precisely right, but I think I came very close. The supplier describes these beads as 20mm x 16mm, but they are actually 18.5mm to 19mm x 15mm. I don't know why there's a discrepancy. These beads are a departure for me, since I never buy such expensive beads. They may be the most expensive beads I have ever purchased, even more expensive than the 18mm patterned polished rectangles that I have carried for a while. Clearly, they are focal beads, and you probably don't need more than five or seven of them in one necklace (unless you are making very high-end jewelry, in which case a full necklace of them would be glorious). Because of the high price, I am taking a smaller markup on these beads than I usually take. |
