4mm Brown Cut-Crystal Bicone Beads [50]
Style: |
C049 |
Beads per lot: |
50 |
Cost per bead: |
8 cents |
Bead material: |
Glass |
Country of origin: |
Czech Republic |
Size/shape: | 3.5mm (long) x 4mm (wide) faceted bicones. Bicones are like two pyramids joined at the base, with the hole running through the centers of the pyramids. Unlike molded bicones, which have 4 sides, cut-crystal bicones have 7 sides. |
Colors/description: |
Clear beads with a dark brown coating on part of each bead; the coating is not synthetic. |
Hole size: |
1mm (estimated). |
Defects: | Bicones should be symmetrical from one end to the other, but with Chinese bicones, some are shorter on one end. Also, some beads may have chips around the holes, and an occasional bead may be lacking facets at one end. However, Chinese bicones are one-third the cost of Czech bicones, so it is worth dealing with more defects. |
How photographed: |
Under two daylight-balanced lamps. |
Comments: |
My picture may make the brown look a little more reddish than it actually is, but I'm not sure. The color may change slightly depending on the light source. The manufacturer calls this color "venus", but heaven knows what that means. At first I thought the color was in the glass, but it isn't (which makes the beads more interesting). |
