| Size/shape: | 3.5mm (long) x 4mm (wide) faceted bicones. Bicones are like two pyramids joined at the base, with the hole running through the centers of the pyramids. Unlike molded bicones, which have 4 sides, cut-crystal bicones have 7 sides. |

| Comments: |
These are very interesting beads. They are supposed to be opalescent amethyst, but they are mostly gray. When viewed under bright light, yellow light comes out of them (as happens with all opalescent Czech beads -- one customer calls it "fire"), and the mixture of the grayish light amethyst and the yellow is quite interesting. Since there is more gray in these beads than purple, I would suggest using them as you would gray beads, although the slight amethyst tint might conflict with some other colors (that's just a guess on my part). I think the beads have a very interesting appearance, and I definitely like them. It's a curious thing: My camera picked up the color of the beads, but didn't pick up the yellow "fire" coming from the beads. At the time that I photographed these beads (under bright lights), they looked more yellow to my eyes than anything else. The technology that goes into cameras doesn't perfectly approximate our vision. |
