Defects:

I eliminate seriously defective beads before shipping.  I can't eliminate every bead which has a slight defect, so I use my judgement as to which defects are so serious that the bead can't be used.  Certainly, cracks, scratches, large pits, partially polished sides, large spots of picasso coating on the sides, and malformations are all enough for me to eliminate a bead.  But I may not eliminate a bead if it has very shallow scratches (so shallow that they're hard to see), small pits, or very small spots of picasso coating on the sides, or other small anomalies that don't ruin the overall appearance.  Translucent beads which have gotten picasso coating in the holes, so that the holes are dark, are not eliminated.  If you receive any beads with serious defects, that means that I overlooked them, and you should contact me for a pro-rated refund.  Specific to these beads:  There is a mixture of peachy and rosy colors in this batch (see Comments).  Also, many of the beads have unusual swirls of color in the glass.

How photographed:

At the window in natural daylight.

Comments:

I did a new picture when I restocked these beads in October, 2012.  The original batch from 2005 was a rosier pink, and it has a darker picasso coating around the edges.  These beads (except for some) are more of a peachy pink, and the picasso coating is lighter and more sparsely applied.  However, about 10% of the beads are a rosy pink.  Since the two colors came together on the strands, it was the manufacturer which mixed two batches together.  As of this writing, I haven't decided exactly what to do about it.  I may choose to remove the rosy beads and sell them separately, or I may just leave them mixed together.  Thus, if you buy a lot of 20, you may get 1-4 beads which are rosy while the rest are peachy.  Or you may get all peach or all rosy.

Do I think these beads look better than the original batch?  No, but they are still nice.  One plus is that the sides are particularly flat and shiny.  Also, I like the fact that they are still using satiny glass instead of glass with no character.
