I inspect polished rectangles before shipping and eliminate defective beads. However, these beads don't seem to be as well made as other polished rectangles I have carried. In particular, many of them have slighly rounded corners; some of them have indentations around the holes; and many of them have picasso coating in the holes, which make the holes look dark. I am only eliminating beads which have rounded corners or indentations around the holes, and only if those characteristics are pretty severe. |

Under two daylight-balanced lamps. Note: Using lamps leaves two bright spots on each bead -- especially on round beads -- but that can't be helped. Also, the close-up shot may show defects that the human eye can't discern. |

About five years ago, I started seeing much better polished rectangles coming from my main supplier. The better beads were an indication to me that they had developed better methods of making them. These beads seem to have been made by the old method (for the reasons given in Defects above). Nonetheless, I am eliminating the most defective of the beads, so you should be satisfied. |
