Style No. (bin): F680 (cba+y)

Style no.: F680
Beads per lot: 50
Cost per bead: 6 cents
Bead material: Glass
Country of origin: China
Size/shape: 6mm (thick) x 8mm (wide) faceted rondelle beads.  Rondelles are round beads which are wider than they are long.  The hole runs through the of the shorter dimension.
Colors/description: Semi-translucent dark blue.  I would call these beads "cobalt", but the shade is slightly different, more like very dark sapphire blue.
Hole size: 1mm (estimated).
Defects: Chinese faceted beads have different defects from Czech beads.  The facets are more perfect than the facets on Czech beads, but there are more defects around the holes (roughness and/or small chips) than there is with Czech beads.  However, only a minority of the beads have defects around the holes, and those defects are not likely to be visible since the holes will be hidden because the beads sit against each other.  (But if you pull your thread tight at an angle, any chips around the holes may cut the thread.)  I estimate that less than 5% of the beads have serious defects around the holes that might make the beads unusuable, and that's an acceptable percentage.  These beads are already cheap, so they will still be economical after you eliminate the beads with rough holes.  I included two close-up pictures that show beads with roughness and chips around the holes.
How photographed: Under two daylight-balanced lamps.  Note:  Using lamps leaves two bright spots on each bead -- especially on round beads -- but that can't be helped.  Also, the close-up shot may show defects that the human eye can't discern.
Comments: I purchased these beads from an online seller, and the picture made them look much brighter and more colorful than they are.  These beads are very responsive to light.  In low light, they look very dark.  In bright indoor light, they look medium-dark blue (as the picture shows).  In direct sunlight, the color should be very rich (although I have not viewed them in direct sunlight as of yet, but I am sure I am right).

As I say above, many of the beads have defects around the holes, but that's a place where the beads can't be seen anyway.  Only a very small percentage have such serious defects that they might be unusable.  Other than that, the facets are more perfect than the facets on Czech beads.  The price for these beads is lower than you would pay for Czech beads, so some defects shouldn't be an issue.
