Size/shape: 5mm x 5mm hourglass-shaped beads with the holes running sideways through the middle of the hourglass.
Colors/description: Glass beads with a silver-colored coating.
Hole size: 1mm (estimated).
Defects: Under a magnifying glass, I noticed some minor anomalies on the surface of the beads (indents, mottling), but they are so fine that they can't be seen with the naked eye.  If you think that you can see scratches on the beads in the pictures, you are probably looking at light reflections from the lamps.
How photographed: Under two daylight-balanced lamps.  Note:  Using lamps leaves two bright spots on each bead -- especially on round beads -- but that can't be helped.  (Please see Comments for more on the picture.)
Comments: There is a lot to say about these beads.  First, my picture isn't accurate.  It looks dark, and the beads appear grayish.  In fact, it appears as if the beads have a rough or matte surface, which they don't.  When I look at the actual beads with my eyes, they look like shiny silver (just as you would expect).  I took pictures of the beads at different exposures; the pictures that came out lighter looked washed-out, so I had to use a darker picture to show the details.  But believe me:  These beads do look silver, and not gray.

Regarding the beads themselves, the hourglass shape causes them to nest together like butterfly or farfalle beads do, with every other bead facing 180 degrees in the opposite direction.  You can see what I mean from the pictures.
