Bead material: Glass
Country of origin: Czech Republic
Size/shape: 4mm (thick) x 6mm (wide) tire-shaped rondelles with facets around the outer edge.  Rondelles are round beads which are wider than they are long.
Colors/description: It is hard for me to tell what I'm seeing when I look at these beads.  The glass appears to be light blue, and there is a metallic coating on one side of each bead.  In some instances the metallic coating appears to be celsian (a golden color), whereas in other instances it appears to be violet.  When I hold up a hank of these beads and move them around, the colors seem to change.
Hole size: 1mm (estimated).
Defects: I haven't noticed any defects, but fire-polished beads always have some imperfect facets.
How photographed: Under two daylight-balanced lamps.  Note:  Using lamps leaves two bright spots on each bead -- especially on round beads -- but that can't be helped.  The close-up shot may also show defects that the human eye can't discern.
Comments: These are beads that look very different from the edge than from the side with the hole, which is why the flat ones look so different from the strung ones in the picture.  However, the picture doesn't show that some of the beads have a violet color in the coating.  Without a doubt, these are interesting beads.

Please note that rondelles come with rounded edges (like an old-fashioned tire from the 1920's) or squarish edges (like a radial tire).  These are radial-shaped.
