I haven't noticed any defects.

Comments:

Tanzanite beads are a little strange.  In some kinds of light they look blue, and in others they look bluish purple.  My picture above came out blue, and in order to make them look purple, I had to adjust the picture.  The picture now has about the right color, but don't be surprised if they look a little different to you when you receive them.
I am selling the beads in lots of 100 because they come strung that way.
