Defects: |
The coating on Czech pearls is fairly thin, and I don't know how durable it
is. Inevitably a few pearls will be missing
some coating around
one of the holes, but those beads are often still usable. Sometimes
there are sharp little "tags" of coating sticking out around some of the
holes; the best way to remove them is with cuticle nippers. A few pearls may also have some anomalies in the
coating, such as small lumps or indentations.
Important:
In April, 2010, a customer told me that the coating came off of these
beads in just two weeks. She had made them into a bracelet. I
have always known that Czech glass pearls have a thin coating, but I
believed that it would last at least a few years. This is the first
time I've heard that the coating may not be as durable as I thought.
Beads get a lot of punishment in bracelets, so perhaps you should limit
Czech pearls to necklaces. |
