Bead
material: |
Glass |
|
Country of
origin: |
Czech Republic |
|
Size/shape: |
10.5mm to 11mm tablets or puffy coins (thick coins with rounded edges and
sides).
They are 6mm to 6.5mm thick, so they are not thin beads. |
|
Colors/description: |
Opaque chartreuse with a green/brown/gray picasso coating. There is
a great deal of variety in the appearance of the coating from one bead to
the next. |
|
Hole size: |
1mm (estimated). |
|
Defects: |
Some of these beads have cracks, but I'm not able to determine how many
because of the picasso coating (it appears to be less than 20%).
It's an old trick of the Czech manufacturers to put a coating on cracked
beads. That's fine as long as the beads are not actually breaking
apart, and these beads are not coming apart. Since the cracks aren't
apparent to the naked eye, and since the beads aren't coming apart, I
haven't discounted the price. Also, not all the beads have a
perfectly smooth surface, but the surface anomalies are minor. In
addition, not all the beads are perfectly round, but they are close
enough. I eliminate any bead which is noticeably malformed. |
|
How photographed: |
At the window in natural daylight. |
|
Comments: |
I am calling the underlying bead "chartreuse" because it looks greenish to
me, but it is close to being yellow.
As noted above, the beads are not perfectly consistent in size from one to
the next, but they are close enough that they'll look uniform in your
designs.
Be sure to read about the defects (above). I don't think the defects
are serious. I examine all Premium beads before shipping, and I'll
cull the beads with noticeable defects. If any
seriously defective beads get through, you should contact me.
