Defects: |
5% to 10% of the beads may be defective,
although it's possible that the percentage is lower. Even styles which are mostly perfect will have some
defective beads in them. Also, I do occasionally throw beads in the mix which have defects of up to 40%,
although the vast majority have defects well under 5%. I recently lowered the price due to the possible
presence of defective beads. (Some defects, by the way, may not be noticeable to you.) |

The beads in the picture above are
dusty, and the beads you get will probably also be dusty since I throw left-over beads in a jar on the floor. These are my left-over or "odd lot"
beads. In other words, if I am selling a particular bead in lots of 50, and I have less than 50 left over, they will
go into this mix. When I cull defective beads, as I sometimes do, I do not throw them into this mix
(such beads go into a different jar). However, for the reasons given above, some defective beads have made
their way into the mix. I sometimes throw in beads which are selling
slowly, so not all the beads are highly desirable (although some are). The mix contains both smooth and faceted beads, mostly
smooth. The mix does not contain any left-over polished or "window" beads, which are sold separately.
$3.00 for 100 beads may seem like a lot for odd-lot beads, but I paid full price for them. $3.00 for 100 beads
about what I charge for most 6mm beads, yet the average size of the beads in the mix is larger than 6mm. You may or may not receive any
very large beads; it all depends on what is in the current mix. The picture above won't be updated as
the mix changes. |
