Beads per lot:

50

Cost per bead:

7.4 cents

Bead material:

Glass

Country of origin:

Czech Republic

Size/shape:

8mm round (spherical)

Colors/description:

Glass beads (probably white) with a synthetic pink coating with swirls of black or gray in the pink.

Defects:

Czech coated beads usually have a thin coating; I don't know how durable it will be.  On the other hand, the coating, being synthetic, is softer than glass, and it may prevent the beads from chipping.  Some beads may be missing a small amount of coating around the holes.  Added later:  When I first handled these beads, I noticed that they have more 'tags' and 'points' around the holes than normal.  Tags and points are small amounts of synthetic coating that have formed what looks like a small hangnail or a lump or point around one of the holes.  The way to handle them is to use cuticle nippers to delicately clip them off like you would clip off a hangnail.

How photographed:

At the window in natural daylight.

Comments:

These beads are a little unusual.  Each bead has a pool of black around one hole, and the black has worked its way into the pink and appears like swirls of gray.  I don't know how they make them.
