Bead
material: |
Glass |
|
Country of
origin: |
Czech Republic |
|
Size/shape: |
12mm flat rectangles
with polishes sides or "windows". The beads are about 4mm thick. |
|
Colors/description: |
Translucent yellow glass with loose
horizontal stripes of opaque yellow, plus a mottled brown coating around the edges; the faces of the beads are
hand-polished. |
|
Defects: |
Because these are expensive beads, I examine them individually and eliminate seriously defective beads (such as beads with cracks or large pits or
partially polished windows) before shipping. However, small pits and short, shallow scratches are not
counted as defects. With some beads, the picasso coating got into the holes and made the holes black – I don't count those as defective. Please click
here to read my article about defects in polished window beads and how I
handle the defects. |
|
How photographed: |
At the window in natural daylight. |
|
Comments: |
When I compare these beads with the
chartreuse beads, they look very similar. In fact, the yellow in these beads tends to look chartreuse unless
you are looking at them in very bright light. The main difference between these and the chartreuse beads is
that the chartreuse beads are more opaque. |
