Glass beads (probably white) with a greenish-aqua (or greenish-turquoise) coating with brown speckled dots; the coating is synthetic.  (See comments about picture below.)

I haven't noticed any defects.

Comments:

I am on my third batch of these beads.  The first batch looked like the beads above.  The 2nd batch had much heavier speckles.  The third batch also has heavier speckles than the beads picture, but with fewer tiny speckles, so that more of the aqua color shows through.  I would say that the aqua color of the new beads is a little more intense than the beads pictured.
