Size/shape: |
10mm barrel-shaped faceted beads. One of my supplier's calls this
shape "antique". |
|
Colors/description: |
The inner bead is, I believe, a strong opaque yellow. The picasso
coating is so heavy that you can't see much of the inner bead. The
coating is brownish, but the overall effect is olive since some of the
yellow comes through. There are highlights of other colors in the
coating. |
|
Hole size: |
1mm (estimated). |
|
Defects: |
Fire-polished beads always have some imperfect facets. To read about the
fire-polishing process, click here.
In addition to that, I notice that the picasso coating seems to have a
striped quality around the middle of the bead; I'm not sure what that is.
The loose stripes around the middle run horizontal to the length. |

How photographed: |
At the window in natural daylight. |

Comments: |
These are extremely interesting beads. Although they are really
"yellow picasso" beads, I called them "olive" because that is the overall
effect. Please note that the colorful highlights that can be seen in
the picture aren't always apparent to the eye, since the picture is an
enlargement and shows more detail than you can actually see.
Incidentally, my picture may be a little too dark and also,
possibly, a little too colorful. The overall effect of these beads
is a little more dull, but still very interesting. |
