Bead
material: |
glass |
|
Country of
origin: |
Czech Republic |
|
Size/shape: |
8mm long with four facets on each face,
and facets around the sides. The appearance is very complex. |
|
Colors/description: |
A mixture of opaque and translucent
reddish-orange glass; the faceted sides have a blue/gray picasso coating on them. |
|
Defects: |
Unfortunately, many of the facets on the
faces of the beads are rough. These are fire-polished beads, and imperfect facets are the norm for such
beads. In this case, however, I am seeing more imperfect facets than usual. Nonetheless, I think the
beads are attractive, and I decided to keep them and sell them. |
|
How photographed: |
At the window in natural daylight. |
|
Comments: |
These beads were frightfully expensive,
as expensive as the 12mm polished table-cut beads. These beads are an example of what we can expect until
the dollar gains strength. With the dollar as weak as it is, any desirable bead is being given an enormously
high price by the suppliers. As for the facets, some of your customers may notice the rough facets, and some
may not. My guess is that a majority of beads have at least one rough facet on one side. Please note
that in my picture the beads look more red than orange. The shade of orange seems to change with the light
source. In incandescent light at night, the beads will appear very orange. |
