Item no.:

F328

Bead material:

glass

Country of origin:

Czech Republic

Size/shape:

8mm round, faceted

Colors/description:

A black glass bead with a synthetic metallic gold/tawny coating.

Defects:

The coating on these beads is synthetic.  It may or may not be fire-polished onto the beads.  Even if it is, fire-polished synthetic coatings can be scraped off with a hard fingernail.  However, synthetic coatings are softer than glass, so the beads may be resistant to chipping (this is just a guess).  The truth is, I don't know how durable they will be.  An occasional bead may have an anomaly in the coating (such as a pock mark), and an occasional bead may have lost some of the coating around the hole.  That will expose the black bead underneath; but since you will be stringing another bead up against the hole, it shouldn't show.

How photographed:

At the window in natural daylight.

Comments:

These are unusual beads, but I think they are interested.  The name "metallic tawny" was given to them by the supplier.  Tawny is brown/orange.
