I haven't noticed any defects, but please note that fire-polished beads always have some imperfect facets.

Comments:

About the picture:  When lying against a surface (as in the picture) translucent beads will always look darker than when held up in the air.  Thus, the beads in the picture may look lighter to you when you receive them.  About the name:  I used to call all translucent dark-brown beads "dark topaz" because that's what my original supplier does.  My new supplier calls dark brown beads "smoky topaz".  So to make matters simple, I'm just calling these "dark brown".
